This BCU 3* training and assessment course will cover the white water training syllabus to prepare the paddler for the 3* assessment (The Sunday for those at the desired level). This course is a pre requisite for any paddler wanting to progress onto the UKCC level 2 Coaching award.
Personal paddling skills such as ferry gliding, breaking in and out of moving water, support strokes as well as surfing waves and stoppers will be covered. We will also look at launching and landing, rolling, forwards, reverse paddling as well as moving the boats sideways.
Rescue skills such as throw lines, tow lines, defensive swimming and Eskimo rescues will be covered as well as touching on basic rescue scenarios.
This course is designed to introduce the 3* syllabus as well as coach and improve the paddler in the necessary skills and techniques.
Assessment will take place on day 2 on grade 2 moving water for those that are ready for it, otherwise day 2 can be treated as another training day.
